Have you found a heart murmur during a routine puppy or kitten check?

Northern Ireland Veterinary Specialists is now providing a new cardiac screening service designed to offer peace of mind when a heart murmur is found in young patients.

Eligible Cases

Dogs and cats under 12 months of age with a heart murmur. The patient must be asymptomatic at the time of referral.

Investigations

Our specialist cardiology team will consult with the owner and examine the patient before performing echocardiography (usually conscious) to rule in/out congenital cardiac defects as the cause for the heart murmur.
Our cardiologists will explain the findings on discharge and provide a full written report to you and the owner. If a congenital defect is diagnosed we will advise on follow up and recommended additional investigations and/or treatment.
